May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month and Saturday was the 26th annual ABATE Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Ride .

On Saturday, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs and members of the American Bikers Aimed Toward Education (ABATE) gathered in front of the Edwards A. Rath building along with others to encourage increased safety and awareness this season.

"More motorcycles are on the road each year, and the more drivers in general." says Poloncarz. He urged drivers to be aware of the presence of bikers on the roads and says its important that drivers be cautious.
