Residential customers of National Fuel can expect to see their gas bills rise by an average $5.75 per month, or nearly 7.9%.That's if the utility's request for a rate increase is approved by the state Public Service Commission.
National Fuel says the added funds will provide $41.7 million dollars annually, which will be used to continue infrastructure improvements, including replacement of gas mains and pipelines. The money will also be applied to its customer computer systems.
The projected effective date for the rate hike is next April.
National Fuel serves almost 527,000 users across 14 counties in Western and Central New York.
