Meyer launches campaign for state assembly

Chris Caya WBFO News

A local political party leader is getting into the ring against two-term Assemblyman Ray Walter. Steven Meyer, Executive Director of the Erie County Democratic Committee, announced his candidacy Thursday for the 146th Assembly District seat. Meyer says, his ethics reform plan would be the toughest in the nation.

"Politicians in Albany had the chance after both leaders were arrested on corruption charges last year to enact tough ethics reform laws and they failed. It is time that the people stand up and the people create the change that we need because we can not sit idly by anymore as backwards politicians push their egotistical agendas," Meyer said.

The 24-year-old, Williamsville resident says, he's one of the youngest candidates in the nation for state legislature. And he says, as a small business owner, he knows what it takes to create jobs.
