While Western New York Local Restaurant Week has been organized to promote the region's independent eateries, it may also serve up a boost to area agriculture, according to event coordinator Christa Hobart. "The local, organic farm-to-table movement is very strong."
That trend, according to Hobart, has become a focus of many area restaurants, both new and established.
"Especially because it's spring. This is a great time to have Restaurant Week and get all these great, fresh ingredients."
The promotional week involves 200 local restaurants, ranging from casual to fine dining.
"If you're interested in lunch, you can search by that, or dinner, and even a couple offer breakfast," Hobart said.
Some of the participating restaurants are offering specials at $20.16.
"Make a plan so you get to hit all the ones (restaurants) you want," Hobart advises.
"And then, make reservations because this a busy week for restaurants. Make a reservation so when you arrive you're not disappointed that they might be a little to full for you."
