WBFO/AM 970 News

An Amherst woman is listed in serious condition after being hit by a car early Sunday morning on Niagara Falls Boulevard near Tonawanda Creek Road.

Amherst Police say at 12:25 a.m. 42-year-old Julie G. Galatioto was crossing the street from east to west against the traffic light when she was hit by a 2011 Ford traveling south. The victim was not crossing the street at the intersection but south of the crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle was 34-year-old Muhammad K. Sheikh, of Lackawanna.

Galatioto is in the Intensive Care Unit at Erie County Medical Center. An investigation is still in progress.  Any witnesses of the accident are asked to call Amherst Police at 689-1311.
