The head of the FBI says the fight against terror is changing but remains a threat. James Comey made those comments during Monday's visit to Buffalo.
He says the public at large needs to think about the issues of computer encryption when there may be key evidence in a phone used by one of the San Bernardino terrorists and it was difficult to crack the phone and he won't say how it was done. Director James Comey won't talk about the ongoing investigation of the use of a personal server for e-mail by Hillary Rodham Clinton.
"I'm not going to comment on any aspect of the investigation. As you know, that's not special to this case, we don't talk about our investigations.,' Comey said.
"As I've said before, I've stayed close to this one to ensure that we have the resources, meaning people and technology and the space to do it the way we want to do all our work, which is independently, competently and promptly. That's our goal in all of our investigations."
Comey says he won't talk about when the probe might be finished, even as the political year moves on. Before his press conference, the director met with local law enforcement officials who said they were also having problems with encryption in local investigations.
