NYS Missing Persons Clearinghouse

New York State and Erie County issued and later canceled a Silver Alert for a missing elderly Buffalo man on Sunday.

Shortly after 1 p.m. on Sunday, authorities issued a missing persons alert for Granville Waithe, 81, who had last been seen walking  on Glenwood Avenue in the City of Buffalo on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Waithe is a black male with grey hair and a grey mustache who answers to the name "Steve." He had been seen wearing a grey coat, blue jean shirt, blue jeans, and brown penny loafer shoes. Waithe reportedly suffers from Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or related cognitive disorders.

The Silver Alert was canceled shortly before 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Avery began his broadcasting career as a disc jockey for WRUB, the University at Buffalo’s student-run radio station.
