Funding sought for Complete Streets

Chris Caya WBFO News

More local streets need to be "Complete Streets." That's according to advocates pushing to make Buffalo more pedestrian friendly. GObike Buffalo, Executive Director, Justin Booth says investing in infrastructure makes roads safe for all modes of transportation. And Booth says some streets simply need to be repaved and restriped.

"And with the Complete Streets policy in place the simple answer is how do we put the paint back down on the street to make sure that we have high-visibility cross-walks. That we have space for bike-lanes and other amenities that are on the street. So...not all projects need to be multi-million-dollars."

Booth and other advocates joined local members of the state delegation in calling on the State Senate to fund the program. The Assembly added $20-million-dollars to the proposed budget for "Complete Streets."
