A car which left the roadway and crashed into a retention pond in Cheektowaga Saturday claimed the life of an elderly driver.
Authorities say a woman in her 70s may have suffered a medical emergency while driving on Rossler Avenue at William Street.
They say her car tore through a fence and struck a tree and building before landing in a retention pond. There was about three feet of water in the pond.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released.
