Many teachers in the Kenmore- Town of Tonawanda public school district are learning they may not be returning for the 2016-2017 school year.
For two years the Ken-Ton district had been examining funding and enrollment. The public school system is closing Roosevelt and Hamilton elementary schools and Kenmore Middle School. The cuts had been impending for some time as part of a plan to save money due to decreased funding.
Further layoffs may occur in the Health and physical education department depending on the district budget.
