New York Republicans nominated Wendy Long to challenge Democratic Senator Charles Schumer at their nominating convention in Buffalo on Friday. New York Democrats nominated Schumer to run for a fourth term on Monday. At the convention, Carl Paladino took the stage. He slammed entrenched party members and others for their attacks on Republican Presidential front runner Donald Trump.

"Mitt Romney and the Washington elite, they're out there complaining that their party is being hijacked. Really?! When did it become their party? We elected them and put them into office to do a job. They didn't do the job. We're upset. We can reject political correctness. We can be angry. This has been festering with the populace for a long time."

Paladino's comments were supported by Congressman Chris Collins.

Loud applause followed the support given to Trump and statements against the push by the "Washington elite" who have spoken against Trump's candidacy.
