The busy Elmwood Village will soon have hundreds of additional parking spaces.
Buffalo Public Works Commissioner, Steve Stepniak says, under a new "seasonal parking plan" vehicles can park on both sides of the street in summer months. Stepniak says, new signs are being posted on 17 side-streets.
"It'll all be in the general vicinity off of Elmwood. And it has to fit a certain criteria. It has to be a definite width in order to have two-sided parking and still allow emergency access. Also, one-ways are streets that qualify very easily. So we're doing it in a safe manner, and efficient manner, and throughout the neighborhood. And with all the input from the community," Stepniak said.
The new parking rules will be in effect from April first through mid-November. Buffalo's alternate parking rules remain unchanged for winter, so snow plows will have room to operate.
