Police investigating tire slashings in Allentown

Mike Desmond/wbfo news

Roadside car service companies were busy in the city's Allentown community Sunday, after the tires of nearly 150 cars were slashed in the early hours.

The slashings apparently took place between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.

Despite the community's reputation for late-night partying along Allen Street, apparently no one saw anything as the tires were slashed, mostly on the street side.

"The police would like anybody who has a home security camera to please review it," said  Allentown Association President Jonathan White.

"Call them (police) if they see anything or anyone that may help the police identify the person who is slashing tires.

There is a city surveillance camera at Allen and Elmwood but it doesn't see into most side streets.
