Cuomo dismisses worries over SolarCity

With SolarCity's stock price plummeting, some have voiced concerns over the future of the company's massive manufacturing plant that is under construction in South Buffalo. During his visit to Buffalo Thursday, Governor Cuomo looked to ease those concerns.

"First, the industry itself is the right industry, right. Renewable energy is the future, that's undoubtable," Cuomo told reporters.

SolarCity announced this week that operations in Buffalo will be delayed up to six months.

"It doesn't surprise me that it's a few weeks late," Cuomo said.

"Solar City, apparently, they are going to be late a few weeks on the equipment delivery. They have very sophisticated equipment that is being delivered to the plant."

SolarCity forwarded a written statement to WBFO Thursday, stating that construction in Buffalo's Riverbend should be done by spring. But the company adds that the installation of equipment is running on an aggressive schedule, meaning that there could be additional delays.
