Upstate news director checks in from New Hampshire

from WRVO

While New York's primary is still months away, today's results from New Hampshire may play a part in who remains in the Presidential race in April. Catherine Loper of Oswego public radio station WRVO shared some perspective on her reporting from Concord, New Hampshire.

"April 19th does feel like a long ways away," Loper said, referring to the day of the New York primary.

"But what I would say to everyone is look and see how many Republicans continue to campaign after New Hampshire, what we're calling, how many get a ticket out of New Hampshire."

Loper joined WBFO live this morning from Concord, New Hampshire.

Polls point to a runaway Donald Trump victory in the tonight's Republican results.

"You can see that when you compare the different events of the candidates," Loper observed.

"Trump had a big event here last night. Thousands of people. Some of the other candidates were having smaller events in pubs and restaurants where there wasn't that kind of enthusiasm."

On the Democratic side, Bernie Sanders has been leading the polls. Those numbers, Loper says, may be fueling a massive effort on behalf of former New York Senator Hillary Clinton.

"We had Senator Kirsten Gillibrand here with a group of women Senators who took a bus all around New Hampshire over the weekend and on Friday to tout the reasons why they think Hillary Clinton should be the next president."

Monday - Friday, 6 a.m. - 10 a.m.
