More growth is underway at the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino. Seneca President Maurice John was among the officials who helped break ground on the $40 million project Thursday.
When the casino opened in 2007, there was little new development downtown. John says he is happy that the expansion will create more jobs in the city.
"The economic turnaround of Buffalo is something that many people didn't think could happen. We are so proud of being part of this movement. I strongly believe the success and growth of Buffalo Creek and the continued development of the surrounding district go hand-in-hand," John said.
Expanding the casino is expected to create 400 construction jobs and about 300 permanent jobs.
Plans for the gaming facility at Michigan Ave. and Perry St. include the addition of a second floor, more than 300 new slot machines and gaming tables, a performance stage and a new restaurant.
