Niagara Wheatfield High & Middle 'lock out'

The Niagara Wheatfield Central School District placed the high school and middle school in 'lock out' Thursday afternoon. The message was posted on the district's website by the schools superintendent.  The message stated that local law enforcement were on scene 'clearing the premises'.  The district said it is was taking all precautionary measures, but that students and staff were safe.

Before 5 p.m. the 'lock out' was removed and students began to emerge from the building to return home.

WBFO News reached the superintendent's office, but  Daniel Ljiljanich was not available at the time for comment as he was working with law enforcement in the buildings. No other details are available at this time.

MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT

In coordination with local law enforcement, the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District commenced a lock out of the high school and middle school campus. Local law enforcement are on the scene clearing the premises. The district is taking all precautionary measures. All students and staff are safe.
 
Ninth grade orientation scheduled for this evening has been canceled, and will be rescheduled on a date to be determined.
