Council leaders set course for new year

Mike Desmond/wbfo news

The Common Council reorganized Monday to start the year and kept everyone in the same offices.

Darius Pridgen is back as council president, unanimously, as are Majority Leader David Rivera and President Pro-tem Chris Scanlon.

For Delaware Councilmember Joel Feroleto, 2016 will be his first full year in office following his appointment on September 1.

"I look forward to working on the budget process which will be coming up in May. I also look forward to working on specific projects in the Delaware District," Feroleto said.

"There's so much construction in the pipeline on Hertel Avenue, which is going to be great to be a part of. And, working on that and also working on parking and other issues of concern in the Delaware District."

Councilmember Ulysees Wingo is also looking forward to his first full year, working on more jobs in his Masten District, along with strengthening the network of block clubs to deal with crime, something he says might be cut with more jobs.
