The carolers were at Canalside Sunday to entertain and to pitch to passersby for support of a plan to buy a historic carousel made in North Tonawanda.
The plan calls for moving the carousel to a building on the Waterfront where solar power would make sure it could spin year-round. The singers were from Buffalo Heritage Carousel.
Capital Campaign Manager Corky Berger says it's a $4.4 million project overall.
"Right now, we actually, with Sean Ryan's help a $600,000 commitment with the Wendt Foundation, it's another 250,000 for the purchase," Berger said.
"We have been talking to the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation and the Oishei Foundation and the New York Power Authority. Everyone's interested at this point."
At the time when carousels were a significant industry in Western New York, they were often shipped to the customers on the old Erie Canal and Canalside is the historic end of the canal.
