Senator Charles Schumer is pushing for a new legislation that will fight terrorists use of social media to recruit, raise money and inspire attacks.
The Combat Terrorist Use of Social Media Act of 2015 has just passed the House of Representatives and is on its way to the Senate. Recent attacks and last week's guilty plea by a pizza shop owner in Rochester who used multiple social media sites to recruit for ISIS are evidence that terrorists are using social media with ill intent.
Schumer points out that ISIS, a militant group known to use social media to communicate, is a reason to support a full review of how social media is being used during the U.S. fight against terror.
The new legislation will improve how the U.S analyzes facebook posts, messaging and other social media by suspected terrorists and those with pending visa applications.
