Kenmore Avenue project wraps up

Chris Caya WBFO News

Repairs on Kenmore Avenue, between Military Road and Ontario Street, are complete. Erie County officials made the announcement in the Riverside section of Buffalo Wednesday morning. Legislator Peter Savage says the section of road that dips below the railroad bridge has been a major public safety issue.

"In the summer and in the warmer weather months, this area would flood. School buses were unable to access roads through this area. And then in the winter time it would freeze and it would ice and it would create very dangerous situation," Savage said.

County Executive Mark Poloncarz says it was not a typical road paving job. The $235,864 project included rebuilding collapsed storm drains, and the installation of a new sidewalk and guardrails.
