A federal grant for Niagara Falls city schools will give students access to locally grown foods and allow them to learn about agriculture.
The Niagara Falls school district is slated to receive $45,000 through the U.S Department of Agriculture’s Farm to School Grant Program. This program is designed to not only teach students about agriculture but also increase local foods served in their cafeterias.
The school district plans to use the funding to create a chain of local farmers that will provide produce, dairy and meat products to their food service program.
