US Senator Charles Schumer is pushing to bring refueling aircraft back to the Niagara Falls Reserve Station. The Falls facility housed the KC-135 tanker aircraft until 2008. In a meeting with Air Force Commander General Carlton Everhart, Schumer emphasized that the infrastructure for the tankers is in place, and the Falls location is advantageous to the routes flown in the northeast.
The Reserve Station is the largest employer in Niagara County, and returning the KC-135s would strengthen the base’s presence.
