Completion of the latest phase of an affordable housing development project in Buffalo was celebrated Monday morning, as a ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to mark 50 new housing units at the AD Price site.
The latest homes, which came in the third phase of the project, bring the total number of new homes to 199 since the first were completed in 2009.
"These are two, three and four-bedroom units," said Dawn Sanders-Garret, executive director of the Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority and president of the Bridges development company. "Some have upstairs and basements. Some are one-level, able to accommodate people who can't do stairs. It's very much what we need in these current days and time."
All 50 units, she added, are already occupied with a growing waiting list.
The project is a public-private partnership that involves partners including the City of Buffalo, HUD, Bank of America, NYS Homes and Community Renewal and Norstar Development USA.
