New Veterans one-stop center opens in Batavia

Veterans One-Stop Center of Western New York recently opened a new center in Batavia. One–Stop is a non-profit agency whose goal is to provide empowerment, support local veterans in meeting their life goals, and aid in their transition into civilian life.

The Batavia location will serve veterans in Wyoming and Genesee counties. Combined with a center in Erie County, the program services veterans from all eight counties of Western New York.

Director of Engagement Alex Lauer said most veterans want the opportunity to apply their military skills to civilian life.

“We’re not meeting veterans who are coming forward and asking for help. Typically, we are meeting veterans who are asking, 'How can I continue to be engaged in my community? In what ways can I be of service to the community?' It’s really as a community recognizing the strength that our military members are leaving the military with,” Lauer told WBFO.

The Batavia location is located at 29 Liberty Street.
