Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane spoke publicly for the first time Friday following a decision by prosecutors in Buffalo to close a rape investigation. Kane learned Thursday he won't be criminally charged after a woman accused him of raping her at his Hamburg home in August. District Attorney Frank Sedita said the case was "rife with doubt."
Speaking in Chicago, Kane said he's relieved and appreciates the support he's received.
"My family's been great, and all my friends, too," Kane said. "You go through something like this and you find out who your friends are. The Blackhawks have been great. I appreciate all that support, including the fans as well."
But Kane sidestepped questions about whether he felt vindicated, referring back to a statement issued by the Blackhawks Thursday where he said he did nothing wrong.
