Martin Gagnon created the light design that will illuminate the Connecting Terminal Grain Elevator.

Martin Gagnon, the  founder and creative director of Montreal based, Ambiances Design Production says, recent testing only revealed glimpses of the work. Gagnon says tonight's premiere will be a surprise.

"My wish is that it becomes an icon of the city, a nightscape. That's our goal. But, the public will judge overtime," Gagnon said.

Gagnon says the project's main inspiration was the four seasons viewed through a kaleidescope. The effects, he says, are all produced with several layers of lighting, not video projections. Festivities get underway at 5 p.m., at Canalside, with live entertainment. Food trucks will be on hand. The lighting premiere is set for 6:30 p.m.
