Report: Kane accuser no longer seeking prosecution

File photo

The woman who has accused Chicago Blackhawks star and South Buffalo native Patrick Kane of rape no longer wants to cooperate with the investigation, according to a report in The Buffalo News which cites numerous sources with knowledge of the probe. The paper reports the woman has indicated the case has caused tremendous stress for her and her family and has signed a document declining prosecution. Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita will ultimately decide whether to proceed with the case.

One source told the News the alleged victim "was no longer interested in going forward."

The story follows reports over the weekend that Sedita has decided not to to pursue a grand jury.

The woman had accused Kane of rape after meeting him in a Buffalo bar and returning to his Hamburg home with him and other friends on August 2.
