The expansion process for the Albright-Knox Art Gallery is moving forward.
In a little over a month, a Request for Proposals will go out to a select group of architectural firms. Gallery Director Janne Siren says selecting the right partner is important. Siren says they're "not looking to land a space ship" on the Albright-Knox campus.
"We believe that we know our campus very well, all its nooks and crannies. We know our audience. We know Western New York," Siren said.
"We want our partner to work with us, to learn, first of all, to understand the challenges of this campus, and as the end of the result of that process, we hope to arrive at a design."
Due to space limitations, the Gallery can only show a small fraction the 7,000 works in its collection. Siren says the goal is to announce a design partner and a capital campaign goal by spring.
