Buffalo has taken a big step forward towards modernizing its 62-year-old zoning code and land use policies.
Speaking to a large crowd outside at Larkinville, Mayor Byron Brown says his administration filed the Green Code Thursday afternoon with the Common Council.
"We are confident that once the review of the Green Code is completed and the Green Code is adopted that it will revolutionize the development process in the city of Buffalo," Brown said.
Work got underway on the Green Code in 2010. Proponents say it creates more modern development standards, and preserves and builds upon Buffalo's strengths as a great 21st century city.
