While SolarCity is getting the most attention in Buffalo's developing Riverbend section, a British couple who opened up their food businesses on South Park Avenue nearly four years ago are moving forward with an expansion.
In addition to their pie-making facility and fish-and-chips shop, known as Parker's, Damien and Vicky Parker will soon be opening a new pub and, next year, will have an international-sized soccer pitch on their property.
"We're going to be leveling it off and then putting in 86,ooo square feet of turf," Damien Parker told WBFO News.
They're looking to eventually become an entertainment and dining center, similar to nearby Riverworks.
"We're going to put outside soccer tv's up."
Parker says they always had ambitious plans for the property, a former tomato growing plant, but those plans have been accelerated with SolarCity going up across the street. JW Danforth has also bought property in Riverbend to build a new operations center.
