Buffalo Fire officials are reporting that two people are dead after an overnight blaze destroyed a building on the city's East Side. Alarms rang just after 4 this morning as flames engulfed what is believed to have been a rooming house on Curtiss Street near the Central Terminal. As many as 8 other people have been displaced, and the Red Cross is being brought in to assist them.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

An emergency demolition for the structure has been requested.
