Redevelopment process begins at Gates Circle site

The implosion of the old Millard Fillmore Hospital on Saturday cleared the way for the giant re-development of the site. A major piece is the new Canterbury Woods facility.

The project is before the City of Buffalo Planning Board this morning. Episcopal Church Home President and CEO Robert Wallace said he meeting today is part of a process.

"We are in front of the Buffalo Planning Board as we speak, working through that process. Our goal is to be able to have all that necessary permitting and all the necessary issues with the city ironed out very shortly so that we're ready to go," Wallace said.

Wallace said the goal is to start building early next year and have the 53-unit, $30 million project done late in 2017. He said there are already 135 reservations for apartments, heavily from city residents for the facility to carry them from good health into the late stages of life.
