Over the years, several restaurants that opened in the space next to the Market Arcade in downtown Buffalo have failed. But that's not stopping a local developer from taking the plunge with a new venture.
Developer Nick Sinatra is opening a high-end food hall in the former Perfettos across from Shea's. Sinatra's partner restaurateur Paul Tsouflidis will be managing "EXPO" which he says features multiple vendors with "healthy grab-and-go" food choices.
"EXPO is an idea that's in most big cities," explained Tsouflidis, though it's a first of its kind for Buffalo.
"I plan on a creating a market that is just bustling with small vendors, big vendors and merging with the atrium with retail space, as well."
Despite the location's history, Tsouflidis says he's excited about it because Main Street has been reopened to traffic.
"When you open yourself up to cars and a block that has cars going both ways, parking, it's a whole different feel."
