Senator Charles Schumer is calling for wider controls over the sale of synthetic marijuana. In a statement being made this morning, Schumer will encourage the Drug Enforcement Agency to create a special unit to investigate online sales of the drug. The state has banned the sale of fake pot, but dealers are succeeding through the Internet.
Federal studies show that emergency room visits and poison control center calls are surging in connection with the substance.
