Labor Day weekend may have brought bring the unofficial end to the summer, but it’s not quite the end of the construction season. After a winter that brutalized many city streets, the City of Buffalo’s Public Works department got to work on fixing them in April. Commissioner Steven Stepniak said it has been a busy time.
“We had a busy season this year. We got some nice weather here to wrap up most of our projects. We’re looking forward to successful construction season completion and we’re prepared for the winter,” said Stepniak.
Roughly $64 million was invested city-wide into this year’s paving budget, with $9 million being used to take on residential paving. That money came from a combination of local, state and federal funds.
Stepniak said there’s still a month-and-a-half to go before the end of construction. He said the budget is looking good and all of the work that was planned is on track to be finished.
