An estimated 4-point-4 million dollars will be divided among more than a dozen local agencies in Erie and Niagara Counties to improve transportation and mobility for senior citizens and people living with disabilities.About two-point-six-five million of those dollars will come from the federal government. Congressman Brian Higgins joined numerous leaders at People Inc. in Williamsville to make the announcement.
"The daily commute to work, reaching medical appointments, and staying active in the community is challenging for far too many. We must work to change that. With this funding, we continue to remove barriers and provide greater access to transportation, independence and overall better quality of life."
The agencies sharing this grant money will use the dollars to purchase new vehicles, introduce or improve programs and services, and educate clients on options available to them.
