DEC to reduce some deer hunting permits
The Department of Environmental Conservation has announced that restrictions will be placed on big game hunters this deer season this year. The harsh winters over the past couple of years have led to increased mortality rates in the state's deer population. This will result in a 20 - 30 percent reduction in the number of antlerless deer permits that will be issued.
This is not expected to affect hunters in areas around Central and Southeastern New York.
