The Italian Festival in North Buffalo was closed early on Saturday. An edict issued by Buffalo Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda forced people out of the festival area around 9:30 last night. Closing time is usually 11 PM. No official word was given for the early closure, but indications are that scattered fights had occurred at the festival throughout the day. No word has been issued on whether arrests were made.
The festival is expected to open at its usual time today.
