Senator Gillibrand announces new bill on gun trafficking

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand teamed with NYPD and gun safety supporters to announce a bill to fight against gun trafficking.

Senator Gillibrand announced a bill on Sunday that will make gun trafficking a federal crime and provide tools to law enforcement to get illegal firearms off the street. The bill is in lieu of the recent racially motivated murder of 9 black people in a Charleston, South Carolina church and a recent New York City gun trafficking bust where 93 guns were confiscated. Gillibrand pointed out that 90 percent of guns in New York City are from other states. Many of them are illegal and from southern states with inadequate gun laws.
