Perry boy's drowning death deemed a 'tragic accident'

The death of a 4-year-old boy from the Town of Perry in Wyoming County is being called a "tragic accident." The child was found in a pond after apparently driving a small four-wheel ATV into the water. He was being supervised by his grandparents at the time of the incident, which took place on the afternoon of July 2.

Emergency crews performed CPR and took the child to a local hospital. He was then airlifted to Women and Children's Hospital in Buffalo by MercyFlight, but did not survive.

The ATV was found in about seven feet of water.  The investigation into the boy's death is closed.
