Tens of thousands of holiday revelers filled the grounds at Canalside yesterday for a day long celebration of the Fourth of July. Food trucks, live music and an artisans market were just a few of the attractions that brought great crowds to the renovated waterfront region. After sundown, following tradition, the skies were lit with an explosion of color as an extensive fireworks display capped off the day. The fireworks show was donated to the city by restaurateur Russell Salvatore.
One estimate pegged the crowd at better than 20,000 people, which would be a record crowd for Canalside.
