Family and friends of Avery Gardner gathered Friday night at the spot where the teen lost her life last week. A candlelight vigil was held on the pedestrian bridge over Ellicott Creek in Tonawanda. Gardner struck her head on the bridge during an early morning boat ride. She was remembered as a bright and caring young woman.
Some on hand suggested that the speed of the boat contributed to the girl having struck the bridge.
The investigation into the accident is continuing.
