New York Senator Charles Schumer will be in New York City today speaking against a proposed move by the airline industry. US carriers are supporting a change in the size of carry-on luggage that would reduce the acceptable size of those bags by 20 percent. Schumer argues that the measure would force passengers to spend a significant amount on new luggage or incur the cost of checking their bags.
He finds either option unfair to consumers as airlines are projected to earn $30 billion in profits this year.
