Just in time for the start of the summer travel season some detour signs are coming down in Niagara Falls. The new roundabout at the intersection of the Robert Moses Parkway and John Daly Boulevard is opening to traffic today.
"The way that we welcome people into the City of Niagara Falls is first and foremost," said Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster. Removing the old highway and overpass, he says, will help the city make a good first impression.
"One of the things that's going to be most striking to people, people from Buffalo if they haven't been here to Niagara Falls to see what's happening, they decide they're going to take a little drive, as soon as you approach the gateway to the city you're immediately going to see some very very big changes there.
The new roundabout restores vehicular access to Niagara Falls State Park and the southbound Robert Moses Parkway between John Daly Boulevard and the I-190.
