US Senator Kirsten Gilibrand will be presenting new federal legislation today to open greater opportunities for children seeking new homes. Gilibrand will be joined by members of the LGBT community and other agencies in an effort to end discrimination against adoptive and foster parents. The legislation could open doors for more than 400,000 children who age out of the system.

The bill would cut federal funding to any agency that continues to discriminate based upon sexual orientation, gender identity and marital status.
