Niagara Falls may dissolve water board

Chris Caya/WBFO news

The Niagara Falls City Council is considering disbanding the city's water board. The development follows a winter in which residents endured weeks without running water after water mains froze.

But Mayor Paul Dyster says it's awful early to think about taking any hasty steps.

"I think the thing we're all hoping for is that would be good cooperation between the city and the water board," Dyster said

"We're hoping this relationship can be healed."

Since it would take Albany's approval, Dyster says he assumes it would take a couple of years to disassemble the water board. He says he doesn't think anybody wants to wait that long to address the issues.
