Kleinhans Music Hall will soon be sharing its collection of historic photos and artifacts with the public. The newest addition, unveiled Wednesday, is an old photo album from the former Kleinhans store downtown. Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo President and CEO Clotilde Perez-Bode Dedecker says when the album came up for auction, she rallied partners who were interested in bringing it home.
"There was a lot of interest in New York City for this particular treasure. It's a beautiful collection, over 200 silver prints that capture the 1930s and the windows of the Kleinhans department store in Buffalo. We were thrilled to be the successful bidder," Dedecker said.
In its heyday, Kleinhans was said to be the largest men's store in the country.
The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo awarded a $75,000 grant for restoring Kleinhans. The project includes a new archive room.
