WBFO News

Yesterday's gusting winds caused a number of reports of property damage and power outages around the region. As many as 5,000 customers were reported to be without electricity for a measurable period of time. National Grid lists fewer than 50 customers in Western New York who are still waiting to have power restored. The National Weather Service reports that wind speeds reached as high as 62 miles per hour.

The record high for a wind gust in the region is 91 miles per hour recorded in 1950.
