New York Senator Charles Schumer will be speaking in Manhattan today against gender-based wage discrimination. Recent reports show that men often make more money than women while doing the same jobs. The pay disparity even extends to the nursing profession. A study by the Journal of the American Medical Association shows that even though there are more female nurses, male nurses make better than $5,000 per year more.

Schumer is pressing for passage of legislation to make gender-based pay discrimination illegal.
